The approaching convertible model with the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car was scout-tested. Since the i8 Roadster has been verified by BMW boss Harald Krüger, the brand new Cabriolet 2018 will be sold, which means that it always has to be a 2019 model. The updated version of the 2019 BMW i8 coupe is expected to be released later this year. An i8 coupe is usually considered safe by our BMW i8 spy missiles and shows the differences between the two general body shapes.
Both variants use a passenger cell made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and butterfly flaps made of CFRP and aluminum. CFRP is also used in the side skirts, which are actually structural according to BMW. Thanks to the rigidity of the Roadster, there are additional suspensions in the suspension and special front and rear supports. Lightweight components for the roof of the Roadster were produced using a new 3D printing process made of aluminum. The use of composites and aluminum contributes to the weight of the Roadster, which is 3,515 pounds or 132 pounds more than the coupe of the 2019 BMW i8.
Inside, the 2019 BMW i8 receives the latest version of the BMW iDrive infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touch screen. Both variants come with a standard head-up display, heated seats, a Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and three driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro). An interior of Tera World Copper with high quality fabrics and leather upholstery in Amido / E-Copper colorway is new and exclusive to the Roadster.
As the 2019 BMW i8 roadster explains in a completely new report from the BMW Blog, the BMW stand in Los Angeles will have a good start. The Roadster is expected to be launched with a new color, electric copper, and can characteristically choose a brand new “square” targeted alloy wheel. The smooth electric primer can supposedly be opened in 14 seconds at a speed of nearly 37 miles per hour (sixty kilometers per hour). It will also be very efficient in the end. Studies have shown that the exact 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine seen throughout the compartment has more than that, but the roadster could produce as much as four hundred horsepower (298 kilowatts). The current i8 only makes 357 hp (266 kW) and 221 pounds (300 Newton meters) of torque. In combination with much more horsepower, the BMW i8 Roadster doubled the energy of the battery. The current battery with autonomy of 7.00 kilowatt-hours has autonomy of just 14.2 miles (EPA) of an array, but BMW could double that number so that its battery capacity would be almost 14 kWh. It is predicted that the i3 will receive a very similar update near the long-term, with a gain of 22 kWh to 43.2 kWh.
Prizes have not yet been announced, but a BMW representative told us that the 2019 BMW i8 roadster will start “north of $ 150,000”. The 2018 BMW i8 Coupe starts at 146,395 USD. The 2019 BMW i8 roadster and Coupe will be available for sale in the spring.
